China Outbound Brief | June Week 4: China International Routes Keep Expanding
This week’s brief looks at China’s continued international route expansion ahead of the summer peak. While global aviation continues to face pressure from geopolitical tensions, fuel costs and capacity constraints, Chinese carriers maintained steady international network growth. ✈️ CCTV Report: China International Air Network Continues Expanding Despite Global Pressure
CCTV reported that Chinese airlines continue to expand international routes despite global aviation pressure from geopolitical tensions, fuel costs and capacity constraints. In June alone, Chinese carriers are expected to open 50 international routes, including new or resumed services to Europe and Belt and Road markets.
For the 2026 summer-autumn season, China is connected to 86 countries, with 191 airlines operating 21,047 international flights per week, up 1.8% year on year. The report highlights continued expansion of China’s international aviation network, with increasing distribution across Europe, Southeast Asia and emerging markets.

🌍Africa: Angola–China Direct Service Launches (Luanda–Guangzhou)
TAAG Angola Airlines launched its Luanda–Guangzhou direct passenger service this week, with the inaugural flight arriving at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on 24 June. The route is currently the only direct passenger connection between China and Angola.
This adds a new layer to China–Africa aviation connectivity, reducing reliance on third-country transit hubs and increasing point-to-point access between the two markets.

🇲🇾 Southeast Asia: China–Malaysia Air Connectivity Expands
Batik Air launched its Kuala Lumpur–Shanghai direct service this week, adding another China–Malaysia connection. The route extends existing services between China and Malaysia, including Guangzhou and Chengdu.
