Ctrip, WTA and BISU Report Highlights Shift Toward Independent and Modular Travel Products

Ctrip, the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), and Beijing International Studies University jointly released the 2026 H1 China Inbound, Outbound and Domestic Tourism Market Sentiment Report.

The report shows that China’s outbound tourism has moved into a structural optimization phase. While overall travel demand remains resilient, growth is increasingly constrained by geopolitics, flight capacity, travel costs, and visa accessibility.

At the consumer level, travel behavior is shifting toward independent travel, fragmented bookings, and modular travel products, moving away from traditional package-based models.
